“AudioConexus’ Creative team was very easy to work with, they were very responsive to the things we wanted in our production. I felt like our script could’ve been a very difficult task for anyone, but because of the talent on the AudioConexus team and their Creative process, we got it right. I felt that AudioConexus’ approach was a very good fit for our organization.”

Executive Overview
The Great Platte River Road Archway is a museum and monument located in Kearney, Nebraska. The museum focuses on the westward migration and important historical references of the overland trail system, including the California, Mormon and Oregon trails, the transcontinental railroad, the Lincoln Highway, the interstate system and the telegraph – all of which came through central Nebraska.
The museum wanted to better manage its IT infrastructure to create a more successful visitor experience. The museum required a solution that offered a self-guided audio tour experience blended with automation to increase the performance and effectiveness of commentary delivery at key areas within its facility.
The Great Platte River Road Archway leveraged infrared and RFID technology deployed on AudioConexus audio guides to deliver a world-class visitor experience. Revamping older content, AudioConexus Creative Services updated The Archway’s experience with fresh scripts and sound productions, seamlessly integrating content into the new audio guide platform. This has led to improved performance, reduced costs and higher guest satisfaction ratings.
Business Challenges
The Archway wanted to improve delivery of its tours due to a variety of challenges it had presenting content to visitors. While the museum had invested in infrared technology to automate visitor experiences, the solution never worked well for staff or guests.
While Archway staff worked at optimizing the experience, the team could not solve interference issues or areas of static on several floors. The museum needed more innovative infrared and RFID technology to improve the service delivery of its tours in order to transform the visitor experience. The museum researched the market for viable solutions and turned to AudioConexus for help.
Solution
AudioConexus assisted The Archway by modernizing its scripts and producing new content to uplift the visitor experience. The museum moved its new audio commentary to AudioConexus audio guides, selecting infrared triggers as its primary mode of automation. The move enabled the Great Platte River Road Archway to better deliver content throughout its facility without any interference. Visitors, using audio guides connected to headsets can now explore the facility using the audio guide’s push-button keypad for topics of personal interest, with infrared content automation at key exhibits on three floors.
“One challenge is that everything was being fed by IR technology and it was interfering with a lot of things we were doing within the facility. We had areas of static as you moved from one end of the facility to the other and some stories would begin mid-stream. We really wanted to clean that up and improve the guest experience so we could tell each story from start to finish.”

Key Outcomes
This has saved staff valuable time and costs. Staff members no longer need to worry about troubleshooting, support and maintenance. Stress-free operation means employees are free to focus more on their visitors and less on technology.
The Archway highlights a variety of artifacts and objects in its collection using RFID. Guests who want more information on specific topics of interest now have the opportunity to dive deeper into history. Audio guides deliver dramatically higher levels of customer service with zero migration issues. This has led to higher guest satisfaction ratings and a happier staff.
“The Great Platte River Road Archway is a large museum with many artifacts and stories that keep growing as the history of Nebraska is enriched. Thanks to AudioConexus, adding new exhibits, artifacts, and tours is easy! We’ve been very happy with the flexibility we have with this solution. That’s a real positive, that literally we can make changes on the fly very easily to how we’re triggering content and in what order. And we’re regularly getting great comments about our experience. A lot of it is because of the high- quality of the production, it’s so good and so clear and easy to listen to. It’s the best and clearest audio I’ve heard with this type of device in this type of setting.”
